Reflection Time

• This year I learned how to make book covers and how to do paragraphs with a DASH?
• One goal I accomplished this year is getting most of my work done.
• This year I tried to be a better person by working hard and trying to complete all of my work
• My Favourite memory from this year was when we did Youth town because it was so fun.
• The funniest thing that happened this year was when Akuhata laughs because his laugh makes me laugh

Drawing from a Paragraph

My Reflection

I had to read a paragraph from the book Matilda and had to try and make a newt without searching up what it is. 

I did well at trying to make my newt and not giving up.  

Think Like a Scientist

My Reflection

First we did the color changing cabbage experiment for it we needed some pieces of cabbage some glass bottles with water in it and some food coloring then we had to wait for the food coloring to reach the top of the cabbages.

Second we did the milk art for that we needed some plastic boles some food coloring and some milk to put in the boles we also needed some cotton buds and dish washing liquid we put the milk in first the the food coloring then we had to get a cotton bud and dip it in the dish washing liquid and put the cotton bud with dish washing liquid into the milk and food coloring then the food coloring made some cool designs in the bole.

Third we did the  balloon rockets and it was fun we needed a straw some string a balloon and some scissors we needed to cut the straw into a small piece then we had to put the small piece of straw through the string and then we had to tie one end of the string to a chair then we had to find something else to tie the other end to then we had someone blow up the balloon and put some tape on the string and attach the balloon to the string with the tape then we let the balloon go and it went all the way to the other side of the piece of string sometimes the balloon would spin around and not go forward.

My Reflection

I had to watch a video from the movie Matilda and also had to write captions about the video.

I did well at writing this down and working with my partner Christian.

I felt like laughing because the video was funny.

My next steps are to try and find a longer video so that I could write more captions

Rocket Dash

I had to write a DASH? paragraph about a raccoon who's name is Rocket and he steals a innocent cat
I have described the setting of my story using interesting adjectives.
My character has done some action of some sort.
My character has spoken to what the story was about.
I have shown how the characters are feeling movements reactions and body language.
I have written a cliffhanger or rhetorical question to finish the paragraph

Measurement Scavenger Hunt

My Reflection

I had to measure things that were 1 - 100cm long. 

Some of the things were not exactly the right amount.

I feel good because this was easy and tricky the easy part was writing everything down and the tricky part was trying to find the right length of things.

I want to know more about measuring and what the longest thing in the world is.

My next steps are to try and measure something even longer than 1meter.

My Reflection
I can describe my story using interesting adjectives

Fraction Hunt part 2

Reflection
I had to figure out what the questions mean and what word it made.

I feel good because we did one of these before and this time I new how to do it.

I was surprised that this was harder than the other one because the other one was easy and this one was not.

How I Show The Elm Park Values

I had to write and explain how I show the three school Values Respect,Resilience and Responsibility

I feel Good because this was easy.

I found it difficult to find the words that rime with sun because all of the words that I did know would not make sense in a sentence.

I found it easy to put the words into sentences.

I had to guess what the words mean and then had to go to the dictionary and search up the word and find the definition for the word.

I feel good because I got it done and because it is my third worksheet finished.

I was surprised that this was easy because I thought it was going to be hard.

First I had to look for a poem in the poem book then I had to say the poem to the class.

I felt nervous when I was saying my speech but now I feel good because it is done.

I was surprised that the speeches went so quickly.

Reflection
I had to do the fractions for all of the peach problems. I did times table and division I had to match the colors and then write the number.

I think I did question two the best because that's when I didn't understand the question.

This was easy because we already done one of these but just different.

my next steps is to do something more harder.

Short and Long Vowel Sounds

I had to put a circle on the short and long vowel words
for example cat is a short sound and plate is a long sound

I can identify the different sounds that the vowels make
I have circled the correct words for each vowel sound.

this was easy because we didn't have to write any thing all we had to do was circle the correct sound
I want to know more about the  5 vowels.

Reading and Writing Whole Numbers

I had to use a calculator and write numbers on it and turn it upside down and see what the word is.

I  can read numbers in written form.
I can read numbers in expanded form

The last slide was the hardest part because there was a lot of numbers

I had to use doubling and halving,place value and tidy numbers for each question.

I had to write 10-15 words for each sound and we could add pictures if we wanted.

Questions and Non-Fiction Texts

Reflection
I had to answer question before I read the book after I read the book and in the middle of the book.
During those questions I had to try and see if I could find the answers in the text or find it by myself.

I had to see if there was any headings photo's caption's or bold words and other stuff and write the numbers of them on the slide and I also had to write the purpose of those things into the slide.

I am still learning to ask questions after I read the book and in the middle of the book because I haven't  read the full book yet.

Stop and Dash

Reflection I wrote 5 sentences about a celebration using the stop and dash. I think I did well at writing my sentences. I fell happy because I got it done. I think I could do more sentences and also put more describing words in. This was easy and difficult because the easy part was putting it into the slide but the difficult part was trying to get the sentence right. I would have liked to do more sentences.

Summer's Decisions

Reflection
I had to write 3-4 sentences about what summer thinks about all of the stuff that is going on.
I can identify personality traits that describe Summer.
I am proud that I got one of my success criteria complete.
Next I will need to try and list some other personal traits for who ever I am writing about.
This was difficult because of when I had to write the 3-4 sentences about the questions it said.

I had to write the 5 senses about a memorable event that happend in the past.
I did well at putting more detail into my sentences.
I am proud of everything.
Next time I will be able to think about my five senses when I brainstorm.

Basic Facts Term 1

Yoda Speak

Reflection
I had to change the sentences from Yoda speak to english and I had to also write 5 sentences in Yoda speak.

It was a bit tricky to translate the sentences.

I can now do something else.
the most challenging thing was translating the story.

Comparing Summer and August.

Reflection
I had to write 10 words on each Tagul. Next I had to write my WALT and I had to write how august is different to summer and how summer is different to august and how they are the same.

It was a bit tricky to get the photos onto the google drawing.

I am most proud of getting 10 words for each Tagul
I can now do some other Taguls

Ordering Numbers

Reflection.
I could put my numbers in order from biggest to smallest.
I found this easy because I just had to put the numbers in order from 1-1000.
I am most proud of putting the numbers in the right place.

Subject Start Sentences

Reflection
I had to write 3-2 sentences about each picture.
We should use subject start sentences because they can help us when we are writing a story.
Yes because I got 2 sentences for each picture except the Elephant seal one.
I am most proud of getting 3 sentences for the Mountain guerrilla slide.

PVP (Place Value Partitioning).

Reflection
I learnt to never split the first number.
I had to split the second number into 100's 10's and 1's or just 10's and 1's.
This was easy because I just needed to write the equations down even tho I already wrote it down on a white board.
I am most proud of getting all of the maths work done.

Ko Ahau Poem

Reflection
I had to write 7 things like I am a racing car or I am a building.
I am a duck quacking at people to get their work done I chose this because I like ducks and it was the first thing that came into my mind.
This was tricky because we had to do a lot of thinking about how we wrote our lines.
I need to improve on writing more words into all of my lines.
Next time I will try and write some more lines for my Ko ahau poem.

Wonder Story Pyramid

We had to write words about how August felt and who was the main character in the story.
I found and summarized information using describing words.
I need to improve on putting enough words in each slot.

My Reflection
We had to copy the lines into the correct order that happend in the story.
I found and summarised information by re-telling main events.
This was easy because all we had to do was put the events in order from beginning to the end.
